Over the past ten years, I have been asked many-many times about how I mustered the courage to start Employee Strategies.   As time has passed, I have become more comfortable sharing the emotion of the story and the humility of the experience. 

Ten years ago this month, I was sitting in a non-descript conference room complete with gray walls, off-white tables and aged carpet.  The nature of the meeting and its participants wasn’t entirely clear.  As I sat in the meeting room, my heart-rate raised as I heard a member of the HR staff tell the room that each of us in attendance was being “affected by some position eliminations.”
